The Abbey Centre Pre-School is run by a voluntary management committee made up of parents. The committee is responsible for managing the pre-school finances, the employment and appraisal of staff, reviewing policies and practice and carrying out the administrative functions of the school. The committee is a member of the Pre-School Learning Alliance and has adopted its constitution.
The committee is elected once a year at the AGM and consists of 3 officers, a chairperson, a secretary and a treasurer, and committee members. Joining the committee is a brilliant way for parents to become involved with the pre-school and ensures that parents are involved in major decisions made about the pre-school. Parents and staff meet on a regular basis to share ideas and skills which will enhance their child’s experience at pre-school. The committee also discuss fundraising ideas and plan events such as Christmas concerts, sports days and end of term parties. The Abbey Centre Pre-School is a registered charity and therefore fundraising and the organising and promoting of events is a vital role of the committee.
As a member of the pre-school committee you can give as much or as little time as you feel able to, any help is welcomed and appreciated.
