How do I register my child at the Pre-School?

It is our intention to make our pre-school genuinely accessible to all children and families from all sections of the local community. The pre-school will make every effort to accommodate any child who moves into the local area. Parents or guardians are able to register their child from the age of 2 years old. Children are, if places are available, offered a place at 2 years 6 months old.

When there are more applications than there are sessions available, pre-school will offer sessions to children according to the following criteria which are listed in order of priority:-

Priority to existing children already attending pre-school for additional sessions.
Priority to siblings.
Children on the waiting list in date of birth order who will attend for at least two sessions a week.
Other children on the waiting list in date of birth order.

Please telephone or email us to arrange a visit.

How does the government funded places work?

Free Childcare for Children age 2 years
If you are a parent/carer of a 2 year old and receive certain benefits you could be entitled to 15 hours/six sessions of free early learning (not including lunch club) from April 2013 with a maximum of 570 hours per year(depending on spaces). To find out if you are eligible go to www.northamptonshire.gov.uk/2yearfunding.
If you are eligible you will be given a reference number which you will need to pass on to us to apply for the funding.

Free Entitlement for 3 and 4 year olds
All children age 3 in Northamptonshire are eligible for a free early education place.

Funded childcare sessions are available to children the term after their third birthday. Eligible children can receive up to 15 hours free entitlement per week for up to 38 weeks of the year. At our pre-school funded hours can be accessed in 2 ½ hourly blocks up to a maximum of 5 hours per day (subject to availability).
We offer 10 x 2 ½ hour sessions per week which are Monday to Friday 9.15am – 11.45am and 12.15pm – 14.45pm. Our optional lunch club facility is available between 11.45am and 12.15pm daily for which there is a small charge.

Parents/carers may choose for their child:

  • To take up less than the minimum entitlement
  • To receive their free place by attending more than one provider within a week
  • To take additional services beyond the free entitlement( additional nursery education or lunch club) in which case the Abbey Centre will make a charge in line with their fee structure.

Parents/Carers will be informed when their child is eligible for the free entitlement.

All parents/carers must complete a Parent/carer contract form at the beginning of each calendar block and provide their child’s birth certificate and a current utility bill less than 3 months old, to qualify for the free entitlement.

How much are the fees?

Fees are currently £9.50 per session for any non-funded children or for any additional sessions required by funded children. Fees are payable half-termly in advance and continue to be payable even if your child is absent. Each child’s attendance at pre-school is conditional upon continued payment of fees and/or government funding.
